EPIKURE 3223
EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 3233 is an unmodified, T403-type polyoxypropylenetriamine that has moderate reactivity, low viscosity, low color, low vapor pressure and high primary amine content. It resists “blush”, “bloom” and “sweat-out” in epoxy compositions. EPIKURE Curing Agent 3233 is a trifunctional primary amine curing agent with the idealized chemical structure shown below. Unmodified Aliphatic Amines, Diethylenetriamine (DETA)
Diethylenetriamine (DETA), available as EPIKURE 3223, and triethylenetetramine (TETA), available as EPIKURE 3234 are two liquid polyamine curing agents widely used with EPON resins for fast cures or where room temperature cures are required. These materials are restricted, however, to small casting applications, since considerable exotherm develops and the pot life of the catalyzed resin is quite short. While these amines provide polymers having good properties at room temperature, better strengths at 180 deg F or higher may be obtained with aromatic-amine curing agents.
EPIKURE 3223 Epoxy Curing Agent, as well as 3200, 3234, and 3245, are unmodified aliphatic amines. They are used in a variety of applications including epoxy curing agents. Due to their tendency to form complexes with atmospheric carbon dioxide, particularly in humid conditions, they are most often formulated, adducted or otherwise reacted to inhibit amine blush. As members of the ethylene amine family, they lend themselves to a wide variety of chemical reactions and enduse applications.

Safety, Storage & Handling
To preserve Epikure 3223 product quality and prevent discoloration, it is recommended that a nitrogen blanket be maintained on the headspace of an opened container and that storage / handling temperatures in excess of 50°C (122°F) be avoided. Spillage around the opening of the container from dispensing operations will form a crystalline residue. This residue is not soluble in the curing agent nor the resin, and certain measures should be taken to prevent it from contaminating the remaining contents of the container. The crystalline residue should be removed with a warm damp wash cloth PRIOR to re-opening the container for dispensing.
